What grade levels are covered by these passages?

Most of the current passages were created to be used for emerging readers in grade 1-2. Passages cover long vowel teams and can be used for any emerging reader learning to read in English regardless of age or grade level.

Proposed passages for short vowels and closed syllable multisyllabic words are forthcoming.

How do I use this site with students?

This website is not for use by students. The only materials students need is a printed copy of the passage. This website DOES NOT collect any student information. Teachers can find spreadsheets for tracking here.

What reading program is this aligned with?

Fluency Friend was not created to align with any specific reading program, system, or scope and sequence. Teachers can simply use passages based on which sounds and features they are teaching.

Who created these passages?

Fluency Friend passages were written by a veteran elementary school teacher who saw the need for an online resource to reduce paper and manual calculations.

Yes, anyone who wants to help others learn to read can benefit from this resource.

Google Sheets used to track progress can be accessed here.

Currently, Fluency Friend is not accepting submissions, but this is subject to change.
